Registration is closed

Note about parking: I have had to limit the number of registrants because the Priddis Community Centre has concerns about the parking lot filling up with cyclists and limited room for community centre users. The club has agreed to limit the number of participants for weekday rides using the parking lot.  The nearby campground can be used but it is still mostly covered with snow (and/or it may be quite muddy once the snow melts). Parking on the north side of 186 Ave is an option but cars must largely be off the road and the ditch is soft mud this time of year. Parking options will improve once we get through the start of spring.

Parking is not allowed for club rides on weekends as the community centre and it's parking lot are often rented (e.g., weddings and receptions, etc.)

Description:

If April 1st fell on the weekend, I wouldn't believe the forecast, but since it's not lets go with the forecast just may happen. So, a very warm early April spring day is forecast and it's another chance to get off our trainers and do some easy-paced early-season spinning on the bike to get ready for the serious riding to come. This is a ride meant for early season intermediate cyclists. As this is the second ride, there will be more elevation and a few steeper hills. (This is Calgary of course and it's hard to have a variety of interesting limited elevation rides.) This is a follow-up ride to the Dunbow Spring Spin using a route similar to the Sunday Advanced ride.

The group will stop at major intersections to regroup and to give our legs occasional rest breaks (as this is an early season ride).

We will take a snack break at Millarville where snacks and water can be purchased at the general store if need be. Quick snacking can also be done at the regrouping stops.

There are no public washroom facilities on this ride but there are porta-potties in Priddis and there may be porta-potties in Millarville at the hockey rink. There are also chamber toilets at the Brown-Lowery Provincial Park parking lot.

After the ride, we can tailgate in the parking lot or go to Water's Edge Pub & Cafe  for food and liquid refreshments. This will be decided by the group after the ride.

Safety:

There is one steep hill (up and down) on highway 762 and a sharp drop on Plummers Road after Brown Lowery provincial park. There may be broken pavement and gravel on Plummer's Rd past Brown-Lowery PP and on 240 St. As always in the spring, watch for gravel on road edges and at intersections.

Parking:

As this is a mid-week ride, we are allowed to use the hockey rink/community center parking lot for a limited number of vehicles (i.e., 8-10 max).
